Playgrounds are Now Open!

Please enjoy and abide by all the rules to keep you safe.  Guidance has been posted up at the playgrounds and permanent signage will be going up early next week.  Please note the Outdoor Gym remains closed until we can introduce a one way system as this is now required.  We would ask that residents do not take down any of the signs as these are vital for enabling us to keep the playgrounds open.

Update on Coronavirus (covid-19) Outbreak

Since the start of lockdown back in March 2020 Westfield residents have been volunteering and supporting their fellow residents. A HUGE thank you to the dedicated group of volunteers who have been taking calls on the 0800 number and those who have delivered medication, picked up prescriptions, done shopping and a whole host of other tasks.  A report went to the Parish Council on the 01/07/2020 outlining the support given by residents including:

  • Setting up Westfield Community Support number 0800  246 1506.
  • Taken over 477 calls for support.
  • Setting up a dedicated website www.westfieldcouncilcovid19.com
  • Setting up a working partnership with the local surgery and dispensary to deliver out medications to anyone who registered with us.
  • Taking details of and supportting over 155 residents some on a regular basis, others with one off calls for support.
  • The volunteers have delivered between 360-380 bags of medication.
  • The Parish Council provided PPE for all our volunteers.

On the 01/08/2020 the volunteers will be taking a very well-deserved rest.  From this date nearly all residents even those shielded will be able to go out but must practice social distancing and take safety precuations in line with Government guidelines when out.  We understand that people shielding or self-isolating may need additional support.  Therefore, from the 01/08/2020 residents who need support will have the following options:

  • First point of call will be to contact the NHS Responders helpline 8am to 8pm on 0808 196 3646 for those shielding if they need additional help in collecting medication, shopping etc.
  • Those shielding if they have more complicated needs or support then they need to contact the East Sussex Shielding Number on 01273 481 242.
  • All residents can call the 0800 246 1506 support line for a general chat or if they need help finding out information. Please note the 0800 volunteers will not be able to help with requests for shopping, collecting medications etc. these calls need to go call the NHS Responders helpline please.

The Parish Council will review the situation on a month by month basis in line with Government guidance. Please Note: The Parish Office will be closed between the 27th July and the 1st September.  During this time if you need to speak to someone please contact one of the Parish Councillors.  Details can be found here.
