WESTFIELD CRICKET GROUND - UPDATE
Westfield Parish Council (WPC) are currently in negotiations with the Cricket Club to agree a new 99 year lease. It is hoped that the new lease will be finalised in the next couple of weeks. This will allow WPC to apply for further grant funding for the new pavilion project, and secure the future of cricket in Westfield.

The Cricket Club have been making improvements to the ground (including the removal of a few trees) around the edge of the cricket ground. Permission to carry out this work was granted to the Club at a full Council meeting earlier this year. This will also allow for the erection of a new pavilion as well as improving the ground. At the weekend the Club removed all of the tree stumps and leveled off the ground at the same time building a bank around the outside from the excess soil. The next stages will be next spring when they put a layer of top soil on the ground and seed it.

PLEASE NOTE that the land to the south-west of the Cricket Ground is NOT owned by WPC. This land was sold to another party at the same time that WPC purchased the Cricket Ground, but Council were not made aware of this at the time. The attached maps show the boundary of the land owned by WPC marked in red and the right of way (31d) which runs along the boundary of Westfield Down

Help needed!  We need musicians, preferably wind instrument players, to play a dozen well known carols for Carols Round the Tree at 7pm on Friday 14 December.  There will be one run through, TBA the previous week-end.  Please contact Janice on 753684 if you can help.  With  a village of this size there must be lots of people hiding their talent, so please dust those instruments down and join us!

Westfield community groups and individuals have created amazing tributes to those who have served in the armed forces in this special year marking 100 years since the end of WW1.  See the poppy displays along the main road from the church to Cottage Lane.  Visit Facebook pages What's on in Westfield and Westfield Parish Council for lots of photos.
