Coach trip to the fabulous gardens of RHS Wisley on Saturday 2nd July.  Everyone welcome.  Cost £15 per adult £5 per child.  We meet outside Geary Place at 9am and return around 5.30pm.

There is so much to see, from small gardens to give you ideas to giant greenhouses full of tropical plants, the trials of new plants and hybrids, formal and wild flower gardens, the arboretum and much more.

Also, several cafes and shops to make the day really special.

The WHS arranges a trip to Wisley each year, picking a different month so that the seasons can be fully enjoyed.

Good News for Westfield and Sussex Cricket Cricket

Westfield Cricket Club have joined forces with Sussex Cricket Foundation and Westfield School to introduce cricket to the pupils (boys and girls) with a view to developing players from a young age who will, hopefully, go on to play for our local club and potentially be skilled enough to play professionally for Sussex Cricket Club.

The process is starting with a roadshow operated by Sussex Cricket Foundation and being held at Westfield School on Wednesday 15th June 2016. This will give the pupils an insight in to the game of cricket and involves the use of three cricket related inflatables which will be operated by Hamish Russell (Cricket Development Officer (East) for Sussex Cricket Foundation) and his colleagues, Simon Corke and other teachers and teaching assistants from the school will also be helping out on the day.

In addition Dave Legg (chairman) and other members will be representing Westfield Cricket Club and they will be using the occasion to promote the cricket club by using the ECB / Waitrose sponsored “club open day” programme, they will also be available to help with the roadshow or answer questions.

After the Sussex Cricket Foundation roadshow there will be an opportunity for some of the more talented pupils to get invited to 8 weeks of free coaching, during the Summer, from Sussex Cricket Foundation coaches at Horntye Cricket Ground in Hastings.

The second phase of the process will begin in October / November 2016 with 20 weeks of free coaching by Sussex Cricket Foundation coaches and will be held at Westfield School, this will continue through to early 2017.

The third phase of the process will build from this with Westfield Cricket Club starting evening coaching sessions for pupils at our ground, this will continue to be supported by both Sussex Cricket Foundation and Westfield School.

This is an important collaboration by the three organisations and will allow Westfield Cricket Club to start a junior section which will help to sustain the club in future years as well as developing players for Sussex Cricket Club and giving Westfield School another element to add to their curriculum---we are sure it will benefit the pupils too.

The tea party, courtesy of WCA, for older villagers  to celebrate the Queens 90th birthday will be on 25th June from 3-5pm in the Community Hall.  Admission by free ticket, now available. Click here for details.
